Weather shall I wonder
Like most Brits, I’ve got a tendency to blather on about the weather. But this summer I think I’m within my rights. The Met Office says that August was the dullest on record, and September has so far been darker, wetter and, I suspect, colder.
Let the games begin
We’ve been looking forward to it for ages; the blood, the sweat, the tears. The thrills and excitement, the lows, the disappointments and the anticlimax after it’s all over again. Nope, I’m not talking about the Olympics – school’s nearly out for summer.
Fever right through the night
Given the shortness and the unpredictability of the British summer, you’d think the least that could be arranged is for us to enjoy what we get.
No butts
They say make hay while the sun shines, but there hasn’t been much of it about this summer. Last winter’s wettest five months since 1914 had already guaranteed that there wouldn’t be a repeat of last summer’s hosepipe ban.
