Text your way to a green Christmas
by fiona in At home on 18.12.07
Recycling is nice and easy once you get into the routine– for a lot of us, the routine is now as simple as putting a recycling box outside our front door once a week.
But even the simplest routine seems to get messed up over the festive season, which is why this new text service from recycle-more is so handy.
All you have to do is text “waste” followed by any UK postcode to 60060 to find out your nearest recycling facilities. Or, if you want to find the nearest place for recycling electrical goods, just send the same text with “elec” instead of “waste”.
This looks particularly handy if you’re going to be away (from the internet!) over the Christmas period and want to find out where to recycle all that wrapping paper and packaging, without waiting till normal service resumes.
The downside? Each text cost a belt-tightening 50p. But if you have one of those newfangled internet phones you could just use the website to search for recycling facilities.
