Green Christmas gift guide: part two

by fiona in At home on 26.11.07

On Friday we brought you our selection of green stocking fillers in the first part of our Christmas gift guide. We’re back today with an assortment of gifts in a slightly more expensive price range, and will be back later in the week with serious green presents for more than £30.

Think of the following as presents for people you like enough to spend more than a tenner on.

£10-£20: presents for people you like

Sun Jar £14.99: It’s the sun – in a jar. We like to think that giving sun light as a gift is quite romantic, and this jar is so much nicer than previous solar powered lights. What more could a person want? Be warned though because this is one green gift that “requires sunlight (not included)”.
Bag
Recycled juice pack bag £16.99: We’re big fans of reusable shopping bags. This one is extra green because it’s made from recycled juice packets. Lots of green gift points for that.

Snake draught excluder
£19.99: We love these colourful snakes. They remind us of days gone by and are a really good way of keeping rooms warm.

Grolsch goblets £11.98: We’re usually not too keen on drinking from the bottle, but for these we could make an exception. Made from recycled Grolsch bottles, these goblets are perfect present for beer drinkers.

£20-30: Presents for people you like (more)

Freeloader portable solar charging system £22.95: We are rather partial to a gadget, and this solar charger is no exception. It can be used to top up mobile phone batteries, as well as iPods, PSPs, digital cameras and satellite navigation systems. It’s a good present idea if you know someone who’s getting something charge-able this Christmas.

Holly Tree £24.50: What could be greener this Christmas than giving a tree? Holly trees are particularly festive, but tree2mydoor has a wide selection.

Snakes

100% Recycled Plastic Logmaker £24.95: This ingenious log maker encases burnable household waste like junk mail, cardboard, and wood chippings in a newspaper log which you can put straight onto your open fire or wood burning stove. The website says it’s perfect for the “open fire enthusiast” – we’re not sure we know anyone who feels that strongly, but it’s certainly a good idea for people with fires.

John Masters Bodycare Kit £29.95: This unisex bodycare kit comes in a simple travel bag and contains blood orange & vanilla body wash, lavender, rose geranium & ylang ylang soap and ‘lip calm’. Sounds good enough to eat – and you probably could given that all the organic ingredients are certified by EcoCert.
